What is the format of swot?
A SWOT Intervention follows a very structured program for Preparation and Days 1, 2, 3, 4. Days 6-14 are more flexible and offer a tailored SMS, Zoom and in-home program that meets the learning needs of each SWOT senior student. Once the SWOT system has been established, close monitoring and tracking over days 6-14 consolidates the method and provides accountability. Add on sessions to extend the effectiveness of the program, or refresher sessions to re-set and check in with progress can add value to the core SWOT Intervention.
What is expected from parents?
A key feature of a SWOT intervention is the total responsibility for the study conversation is handed over to the qualified teacher SWOT trainer. Parents play one important role: to stabilise the family relationship with their senior student by providing for their physical, mental and emotional needs. The study part of their life is firmly in our hands.
An upfront intake session with Program Director will flag any key or concerning issues with the home & study situation. The parent will receive a detailed “manual to their senior student” – giving them the current research into behavioural change and organizational psychology, brain development and potential or real issues that may be indicated when a student approaches the end of school.
The SWOT trainer and the senior student are a team that work together to formulate a simple, structured, personal plan that is practiced until the student can do it themselves.
Why can’t students learn these skills at school?
A SWOT Intervention is different to any school program. It is specifically designed to re-set and break a study paralysis in the student’s home – the place where they spend time studying and working on their assessments. The intervention provides a one-to-one, tailored, specific and intensive, in-home program. This cannot be replicated in a year group or school setting and provides unique and effective results for students who are really stuck.
Can the SWOT trainer become a tutor for my senior student?
A SWOT Intervention allows recommendations to be made on areas that tutoring may be indicated and provide appropriate referrals.
A SWOT trainer can readily identify the best skills & strategies that will work for your senior student as an individual learner.
While each SWOT trainer is a specialist in their subject area and vocation, the SWOT Intervention is not tutoring and is not content specific; as a specialised and independent advocate for your senior student, we will help you find a suitable tutor
